SEATTLE — A Seattle police officer fatally shot two pit bulls that charged him as he responded to 911 calls about vicious dogs.

Police were called about 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon after the dogs reportedly attacked one person, cornered another and mauled a German shepherd on 57th Avenue South. The injured dog’s owner first called to report the animals were nearly killing his pet.

Police spokesman Jeff Kappel says the owner then called again to say the pit bulls had moved on to a yard two houses away, where they attacked the resident.

The pit bulls charged the first officer to arrive and he shot both animals. Police are investigating who owned the pit bulls.
