Marysville: City toy drive honors former City Clerk Lillie Lein
Employees with the city of Marysville collected 268 toys this holiday season in honor of former city clerk Lillie Lein, who passed away earlier this year.
The toys contributed to a total of more than 3,000 gathered for Operation Marysville Community Christmas, a program of the Marysville Food Bank.
City employees contribute to the program every year, but this year, in Lein’s honor, they focused on collecting toys because that was her specialty in her work with the food bank, city spokesman Doug Buell said.
Families received the toys Thursday through Saturday.
Those who sign up to receive help from the food bank are also eligible for the toy program.
