It’s magic!

While magic can delight, astound and entertain us, Philemon Vanderbeck and his fellow local magicians have a greater purpose for it — helping burned children.

They are putting their own special magic to work Saturday night at Everett Theatre in a “Smoke and Mirrors” magic show to benefit The Burned Children Recovery Foundation of Everett.

Vanderbeck will be joined by Don Brisbane, Charlie the Magic Clown, Jeff Dial, Steve Hamilton, Magic Joe and Rich Waters. Royal Magick is master of ceremonies.

“I think ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ is great for the community,” Vanderbeck said in press materials. “The public gets to see an entertaining magic show while supporting a great cause. For us magicians, it feels great to use our talents to benefit kids that are recovering from serious burns.”

The Burned Children Recovery Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Everett that provides counseling and financial aid to burned children and their families. The foundation runs Phoenix House, where children go to recover after leaving the hospital, and Camp Phoenix, a place for burned children to regain their childhoods. According to the foundation, more than 250,000 children are burned in America each year.
