Esther Mesterton, a Snohomish County-based writer, plans to attend an authors’ gala at Barnes &Noble in Woodinville on Saturday.
Mesterton’s book, “Hidden Passage,” is an allegorical Christian tale that she wants to convey a message of salvation to readers. The story centers on a group of people from the Pacific Northwest trapped in a canyon in the Wenatchee National Forest. No one can leave the canyon, which is guarded by Bigfoot-like creatures, although there may be a passageway out.
“There are a lot of people that won’t pick up a Bible or a commentary on faith, but they will pick up a novel,” she said.
The author’s gala is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Barnes &Noble, 18025 Garden Way NE, Woodinville. Mesterton, one of several authors appearing, is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. For more information, call 425-398-1990.
Flint Whitlock and Terry Barnhart will present a program and sign copies of their book “Capt. Jepp and the Little Black Book” from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Future of Flight Aviation Center in Mukilteo. The book is about aviation pioneer Elrey Jeppesen, a barnstormer, wing walker, airmail and airline pilot, of the ’30s. The program is free with the purchase of a $4 reduced admission ticket to the aviation center gallery only. The museum is at 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo. Call 425-438-8100 or check the Web site, www.futureofflight.org, for more information.
