MONROE – A 2-year-old Monroe boy was in stable condition at a Seattle hospital after being hit by a pickup truck this morning, a family friend said.
The boy apparently ran into the road and was struck by a Ford F-250 truck, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The mishap occurred around 11 a.m. in the 12200 block of Roosevelt Road, she said.
The boy, who will turn 3 in March, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, officials said.
Reached this afternoon, a friend of the family said the boy was stable and being evaluated for broken bones, Luanne Packwood said. The boys parents and other relatives were with the child at Harborview.
Anytime a patient is evacuated by helicopter, the patient’s condition is considered life-threatening, Snohomish County Fire District 4 Battalion Chief Mike Gatterman said.
Detectives with the sheriff’s collision investigation unit were summoned to the accident scene.
The pickup driver, 31, didn’t appear to be driving recklessly or engaged in any improper conduct, Hover said.
