50 years ago (1958)
Queen Bee Rose Margaretich would reign at the 16th annual SeeBee Birthday Ball in Seattle commemorating the founding of the Navy SeeBees.
It would be attended by men of the reserve drilling units in Everett, Seattle, Tacoma and Bremerton. Bee Rose was a Chief Yeoman attached to the Naval Reserve Construction Battalion in Everett, where she shared honors with her husband, Chief John Margaretich.
Tomorrow began the three-day grand opening of Intercity Drug at 8815 Highway 99 South in Anderson’s Shopping Center. Its proprietor was Ted Graves, who also served as pharmacist.
25 years ago (1983)
Betty Rettenmier passed on a plea for folks paying PUD bills to consider adding a couple of bucks for the Project Pride kitty, which was used to pay electric bills for those unable to meet that obligation. It was a cooperative effort between the PUD and the Red Cross.
Richard Connolly, an Everett Community College student from Arlington, placed sixth in restaurant marketing and management competition at a state career development conference in Spokane. He was eligible to attend the national convention in Houston the last week of April and compete on a national level.
