Boeing announces another Dreamliner delay

The Boeing Co. said this morning that it won’t deliver its first 787 until the third quarter of 2009 – a new delay of at least six months.
In its initial press release, Boeing says it plans to fly the first Dreamliner in the fourth quarter of this year. However, the company wants to take a more gradual approach to its previously aggressive production ramp up schedule. It will hand over only 25 787s in 2009, down from the 112 it originally planned.
The early reaction from Wall Street: Finally, a schedule we can get behind. Boeing’s shares are up more than 3 percent.
We’ll have more after the conference call this morning.
