LAKE STEVENS — Lake Stevens defeated first place Cascade 4-1 in a Wesco North League game Wednesday night.

The Vikings have creeped back within two points of idle fourth-place Monroe for the final 4A District 1 playoff berth with three games left on the schedule. Both Lake Stevens and Monroe face third-place Snohomish and Oak Harbor. The Vikings also play Everett and the Bearcats play Arlington.

Cascade’s hopes of a league title have dimmed as the Bruins have to hope for Marysville-Pilchuck and Snohomish to falter. Snohomish and Marysville-Pilchuck have three games remaining as the Bruins have two. Cascade remain tied atop the standings with the Tomahawks, two points ahead of Snohomish. Cascade hosts Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday.
