50 years ago (1958)

A delegation from Snoho­mish County met with the state Highway Commission in Olympia about the proposed Everett-Seattle-Tacoma freeway. The delegation consisted of Don Davis, Howard Bargreen, Rodney Colvin, Harold Thompson, Bob Shaffer, Newell Smith, Art Diemert, Henry Backstrom, Jack Carpenter, Vic Lee, L.C. Freese, Duard King and Al Solem. They were told Everett would definitely not be on the “tail-end” of the project. But it was.

Among 21 Everett-area Eagle Scouts who were honored this week at a special Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet were Norman Amdal, David Cameron and Gerry Westfall. The banquet, held in the Legion Park Community Center, honored the boys who attained the rank of Eagle during 1957.

25 years ago (1983)

Retired educator Ed Morrow, an Everett native, said he would file for Everett City Council Position 5. Morrow was a former Everett principal who served at six elementary schools and worked extensively with parent-teacher associations. He was presently working as a business consultant for an Everett furniture store.
