MARYSVILLE — An environmental group has lots of goats, but it could use more people on Saturday to help remove scotch broom and other invasive weeds from a wetland area along Union Slough.
People For Puget Sound will be working with 60 goats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to help restore native plant species in the area, a wetland area and public park restored by the Port of Everett. The environmental group will provide the volunteers with tools, water and snacks.
People who want to help should bring a lunch and a refillable water bottle. They’re asked to dress for the weather and to wear sturdy shoes or boots.
The goats are from a business on Vashon Island called Rent-a-Ruminant. They will be working in the area for a week and will be back at the Union Slough area May 30 to work alongside a group of students from College Park Middle School in Edmonds.
The parking lot for the Union Slough area is off Highway 529 north of Everett just south of Union Slough near Marysville.
