Sultan students lead town cleanup
The Sultan High School leadership class plans to spend part of the Memorial Day holiday picking up trash in town.
The town cleanup effort is set for 3 p.m. Monday, beginning at the River Park Pavilion near Sultan Town Hall. The class plans to provide trash bags.
Snow still covers trails, campgrounds
This Memorial Day weekend, hikers and campers may discover their favorite trails and campgrounds under several feet of snow in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The long, late winter with a record snow pack at low elevations is responsible, National Forest officials said.
Of 34 campgrounds normally open for Memorial Day, only 24 are open this weekend, and snow has postponed the opening of or closed many of the trails.
Visitors can check campground opening dates by calling 541-822-3799 or by going to www.hoodoo.com.
