Summer reading program: Sorry to break the news, kids, but you won’t be playing video games all summer. You’ll be reading books, stacks of them, and not just Harry Potter. At least that’s the hope of the adults hosting a Summer Reading Kickoff Party on May 31 at Children’s Bookshop, 19720 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. They’ll tempt you with the largest selections of kid books the store has ever stocked. Authors, librarians and teachers will be there to help you pick a good read. They’ll be games and prizes and stories to hear, too. Kids 6 and under should come between noon and 2 p.m. Readers ages 7 to 10 should arrive between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and those 11 and older should come at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more details, call the shop at 425-673-2416.
