TACOMA — A woman, her husband and their Labrador were injured after being attacked by two pit bulls in northeast Tacoma.

Jorgann Simonsen said she and her dog were out for a walk on Friday when the attack occurred. She says she saw the two pit bulls dash over from across the street and next thing she knew her and her dog were in trouble.

Simonsen said both pit bulls bit her dog and then wouldn’t let go. As Simonsen tried to stop the attack, she said one pit bull turned on her, biting through a bone in her hand.

Simonsen’s husband, Lind, was out on a bike ride and says he tried to put his bike between the family’s dog and the pit bulls.

He said he punched the pit bulls’ snouts and managed to chase them off, but fractured his hand in the process. His wife also suffered a fracture to her left hand, while Gallagher the Labrador took 37 stitches in his shoulder and neck.

The pit bulls have not been captured.
