Learn about PUD plans for conservation, growth

Public Utility District customers can learn tonight how the utility is planning to meet growth through conservation and green renewable energy resources.

The PUD is reviewing its draft Integrated Resource Plan, which provides a long-term strategy for energy resources. Listen and speak at 6:30 p.m. today at the Snoho­mish County PUD, 2320 California St., Everett.

Free dump coupons available for residents

Coupons worth $17 in credit toward garbage and yard debris disposal at the Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station are available for Everett residents.

Coupons can be picked up at the utility billing office, 3200 Cedar St., the City Clerk’s office, 2930 Wetmore Ave., the north precinct police office, 3002 Wetmore Ave., and the south precinct police office, 1121 SE Everett Mall Way.

Coupons are valid through Sept. 30. They are limited to one per person and proof of residency is required.

Marysville

Transportation discussion to air on cable access

Marysville’s cable access station, TV21, is scheduled to air a pre-recorded forum on transportation in Snohomish County over the coming week.

The program is slated to air at noon, 4, 7 and 11 p.m. Wednesday through Aug. 5.

The presentation was hosted and videotaped July 25 at the Tulalip Casino by the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce.

Interchange improvements on I-5 in Marysville and the planned widening of Highway 9 are among the topics.

Panelists include state Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, D-Camano Island, Marysville Mayor Dennis Kendall and staff members with the state Department of Transportation.

Downtown master plan available city’s Web site

The city’s new downtown master plan and design guidelines are available on the city’s Web site, www.ci.monroe.wa.us. The plan is a blueprint for future downtown revitalization. Residents, businesses and property owners collaborated with the city to create the plan.

The downtown along Main Street used to be a commercial hub in the Skykomish Valley.

City plans National Night Out Aug. 5

Mukilteo’s National Night Out crime-prevention event is planned for Aug. 5.

National Night Out is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mukilteo Family YMCA, 10601 47th Place W. Police officers and firefighters plan to do a “show and tell” with their equipment and vehicles to explain how they protect the public. Businesses and community groups also plan to be on hand.

National Night Out is a nationwide event now in its 25th year.

Snohomish

Free classic movies showing at Hill Park

This summer, the city offers free classic movie nights at Hill Park near Blackmans Lake.

The movies are set to start at dusk. People are encouraged to come early and enjoy the lake.

The lineup: “Gulliver’s Travels” on Wednesday, “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers” on Aug. 6 and “Festival of Classic Cartoons” on Aug. 13.

Overflow parking will be available at nearby St. Michael’s Church.

No alcohol is allowed at the park.
