EVERETT — A rollover trailer closed four lanes of northbound I-5 near Highway 526 in Everett on Saturday afternoon, backing up traffic for several miles, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The trailer rolled over around 3 p.m. when it separated from a pickup truck heading north on I-5, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
The truck’s driver, a 60-year-old Sedro-Woolley man, kept driving north and went onto the U.S. 2 trestle, Leary said. The truck eventually went into a ditch off Cavalero Road.
State Patrol officials caught the man, who is likely to face hit-and-run charges, Leary said. The man told officials that he ran away because he suffered a panic attack when the trailer rolled over on the freeway.
The man has a lengthy criminal history, Leary said.
