March of Dimes benefit at the Pig
The Flying Pig Brewing Co. is scheduled to host a Jail &Bail fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
The event helps the March of Dimes raise money for the fight against premature births.
Funds from the event go to support research programs, community services, education and advocacy.

Arts council helps promote gardening
The Arlington Arts Council’s Art at The Plant Farm is set for 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 and 14.
The fine art show includes a variety of art by the members of three north Snohomish County guilds: the Arlington Arts Council, Stanwood-Camano Art Guild and the Greater Marysville Art Guild. There also will be live music, plants, espresso, kettle corn and grounds for the public to stroll.
The event is at The Plant Farm at Smokey Point, 15022 Twin Lakes Ave., Marysville.

Volunteers sought for U.S. 2 safety
The Washington Traffic Safety Commission needs volunteers at the Evergreen State Fair to promote safety on U.S. 2. The fair runs through Monday.
Volunteers are needed for these shifts: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fair is at 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.
Volunteers hand out rack cards and mints and engage passers-by in a five-question quiz about traffic safety on U.S. 2.

Correction
Family tickets to the 100th annual Evergreen State Fair are only available on Wednesday. The tickets cost $25 for two adults and four children. Family ticket information was wrong in a facts box about the fair, which appeared on Page B3 Monday.
