Everett man sentenced in drug case

An Everett man accused of being a major oxycodone distributor was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to 10 years in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle announced.

An investigation found that the man, 28, gave someone $295,000 to buy 9,000 of the prescription narcotic pills. The man also was charged in Snohomish County with kidnapping and rape.

In a negotiated settlement, the man pleaded guilty on June 10 in the Snohomish County and federal cases. He’ll serve a 12-year state sentence concurrent with his federal time.

After his release, the man will be required to register as a sex offender.

At sentencing, the man told the judge he “had remorse for the pills he sold, because now his brother is addicted to them,” said Emily Langlie, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
