MARYSVILLE — Firefighters investigated a residential fire Tuesday morning.
A passer-by reported smoke and flames coming out of the basement of a home in the 14500 block of 23rd Street NE just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Marysville Fire District spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said in a statement.
She said no one was home at the time.
The investigation showed that the fire most likely started in a peat bog by discarded material that was smoldering, Thorstenson said.
No one was hurt or displaced, she said. The cost of damage is estimated at $5,000.
