A Lynnwood man was arrested Thursday morning for his part in an illegal gambling operation.
Undercover agents from the Washington State Gambling Commission have been working for more than a year to develop the case against the man, 50, and a Bellevue man, 63, spokeswoman Jeannette Sugai said. The Bellevue man also was arrested Thursday.
The two men are believed to have played roles in book-making. They allegedly charged a fee — also called a vigorish or “vig” — for placing bets on professional sporting events, she said.
“That’s what makes it illegal, is the fee that’s being charged,” Sugai said.
The Lynnwood man is charged with first-degree professional gambling and transmitting or receiving gambling information, she said. The Bellevue man faces those charges as well as leading organized crime.
Both men were booked into the King County Jail.
