Veterans Day events planned around county

Today is Veteran’s Day. Here are local events:

Arlington: A Veterans Day parade is planned at 11 a.m. today along Olympic Avenue in Arlington by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

All veterans are invited to march.

Lunch is planned for 1 p.m. at the American Legion, 115 N. Olympic Ave.

Arlington: Several Arlington schools are hosting Veterans Day events. Events include songs, guest speakers and slide shows. For a complete list of events, go to the Arlington School District’s Web site at www.asd.wednet.edu.

Everett: Enjoy free admission for veterans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Flying Heritage Collection, 3407 109th St. SW in Everett; free parking outside hangar; admission $12, $10 seniors, $8 ages 6 to 15, free for ages 5 and under, $10 per person for groups of 15 or more; free for veterans. Everett: A Veterans Day ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. today at the Eternal Flame at the Snohomish County Courthouse, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Lynnwood: A Veterans Day Ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. today at Lynnwood Veterans Park at 194th Street SW and 44th Avenue W.

Members of VFW Post 1040 will conduct the ceremony, to include accordion and bagpipe selections, a rifle salute, taps and a closing prayer. For more information, contact VFW Post Commander Martin Spani at 425-774-7416.
