Red Wings beat Sabres for 5th straight victory

DETROIT — Mikael Samuelsson scored the go-ahead goal with 2:34 and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 Saturday night.

Samuelsson also added an assist, Jiri Hudler had a goal and an assist and Marian Hossa also scored for Detroit, which won its sixth straight. Ty Conklin made 21 saves.

Derek Roy scored for Buffalo, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Ryan Miller stopped 45 shots.

Samuelsson flipped a backhander past Miller from the slot for his 10th goal after taking a pass from Hudler. Hossa got his 20th goal just 59 seconds later.

Hudler tied it at 1 with three minutes left in the second period, beating Miller with a one-time slap shot from the top of the left circle.

Roy opened the scoring 5:03 into the first period when he shoveled in a rebound for his 16th goal.
