EVERETT – Sheriff’s officials and explosives-sniffing dogs were investigating a bomb threat this morning that closed Mariner High School for the day.
“Shortly before 6 a.m. employees found a written note or notes with specific bomb threats that there was a bomb inside the school,” Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.
Sheriff’s deputies, school district officials and the principal decided it was best to close school for the day during the investigation, Brand said.
Students were sent home from school this morning, said Andy Muntz, a Mukilteo School District spokesman.
Two Washington State Patrol bomb-sniffing dogs were deployed to check the school, trooper Keith Leary said.
“We’ll be there to do everything we can to do a nice thorough investigation,” Brand said.
