TALKING POINTS

Well, the Tips played a little better tonight, but it didn’t make any difference as the losing streak increased to eight. It’s now the longest skid in franchise history.

Everett was basically nonexistent on offense for 53 minutes. Then when the Tips finally turned it on toward the end, they couldn’t beat Seattle goaltender Jacob DeSerres.

This sets up an interesting game tomorrow. Between them Everett and Portland have lost their last 18 games. Something’s got to give.

TURNING POINT

Everett scored midway through the second period to cut the deficit to 2-1, then had a power play late in the period with a chance to tie it. However, while short-handed, Seattle’s Prab Rai skated around three Everett players before sending a backdoor feed for Greg Scott to tap in. That one was a killer.

HIT OF THE DAY

Everett’s Taylor Ellington had the game’s two best hits, first when he shouldered down Erik Fleming midway through the second period, then when he hammered Scott late in the third.

THREE STARS

First star: Scott. Two goals and I think he set up the third, though he wasn’t creditied with the assist.

Second star: Shane Harper, Everett. Scored Everett’s lone goal.

Third star: Jonathan Parker, Seattle. One goal and one assist as he fills in on the top line.

The Herald’s honorable mention: Prab Rai, Seattle. As dynamic a skater as I’ve seen all season.

LINEUP NOTES

Everett had another of its injured players back in the lineup as center Paul Van de Velde returned following four games out because of a concussion. However, defenseman Chris de la Lande, who was expected back from his groin strain, was not in the lineup. Daniel Bartek (foot) is out injured and defenseman Drew McDermott was a healthy scratch. The Tips shook up their top line as Dan Iwanski joined Zack Dailey and Shane Harper, with Dale Hunt skating with Van de Velde and Markus McCrea. Everett also broke up its top defensive pairing of Ellington and Graham Potuer as Ellington played with Trevor Bauer and Potuer played with Mike Alexander.

Seattle has its own injury problems as right wing David Richard (hand) and center Lindsay Nielsen (ankle) are both out. Forward Charles Wells was back in the lineup after serving a three-game suspension for a checking-from-behind major. Forward Chance Lund was a healthy scratch.
