Road work to close I-5 lanes near Arlington
Published 5:18 pm Wednesday, March 4, 2009
Road crews plan to close two of three lanes on southbound I-5 near Arlington Wednesday and Thursday nights for grinding and barrier work.
Drivers can expect to see one lane of southbound I-5 at 172nd Street NE closed at 7 p.m., with a second lane closed at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
Crews will grind pavement in the roadway shoulder to prepare the area for future construction of a two-lane on-ramp from westbound 172nd to southbound I-5. After completing the grinding, crews will place barriers along the shoulder to create a safe work zone.
The new on-ramp will involve a right turn from the right lane of 172nd and will loop around to the right lane of I-5. The ramp will replace the current left-hand turn for drivers westbound on 172nd.
