MONROE — Everett was leading Monroe by three runs, when Alexandra Hudson provided all the seperation the Seagulls needed with a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning. Everett went on to win Friday’s Wesco North softball game 11-5.

“She’s a really good player. She plays outfield. She pitched. Hudson’s tough,” Monroe head coach Curt Eskeback said.

Hudson was 3-for-5 with the grand slam, two singles and five RBI.

The worst part for Monroe is that Hudson wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to hit the grand slam if it weren’t for errors. “We had two errors that should have been outs. We should have gotten out of that inning without any runs. That was a killer right there,” Eskeback said.

Monroe had six errors overall.

“When you make more than a couple errors a game, it usually just kills you,” Eskeback said.

Briar Stanley was a bright spot for Monroe. She batted 3-for-3 with two home runs.
