Live music and a restored 1924 film of “Peter Pan” will send families on a nostalgic trip to Neverland.

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is presenting this lavish, live-action silent film of “Peter Pan” that captures the fairy tale magic of flying children, wicked pirates and the storybook land where kids never grow up.

Backing up the movie will be harpist Leslie McMichael, who composed and will perform a new score for this show.

“Peter Pan,” released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures, was the first film adaptation of the play. Tomboyish Betty Bronson is the eternally adolescent boy, while towering Ernest Torrence plays a flamboyant Capt. Hook.

The cast includes Mary Brian as Wendy, Virginia Brown Faire as Tinker Bell and Anna May Wong as Tiger Lily.

“Peter Pan” starts at 7:30 tonight at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camano Ave., Langley. Tickets are $10. Call 800-638-7631 or visit www.WICAonline.com. “Pan” is presented as part of WICA’s Family Series.
