PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP

SHORELINE — Everett put up two runs on Lynnwood in the top of the first inning, but couldn’t manage any more than that. The two runs wasn’t nearly enough. Lynnwood scored 13 unanswered runs to earn the 13-2 victory, and move on in the 3A District 1 tournament.

Lynnwood coach Reggie Corns said Everett was able to score first by playing small ball, moving runners into scoring position.

“They wanted to play small ball and keep it close,” Corns said. “Once we got up on them a little more they weren’t able to do that anymore.”

Lynnwood got on the board with four runs in the second inning, they got another six in the fifth and three in the sixth.

“I think we just settled down,” Corns said.

Lynnwood was led by Karl Rodriguez, who batted 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. John Mann batted 2-for-3 and Ryan Desimone batted 1-for-2, each with two RBI for the Royals.

Lynnwood plays Shorecrest Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Shorecrest High School. The winner of Tuesday’s game advances to the District Championship on Saturday.
