SHORELINE — The Shorecrest boys soccer team made a statement Saturday that its first-round rout of Evergreen was no fluke.

The Scots backed up their previous result and defeated Columbia River 5-0 in a 3A state semifinal game at Shoreline Stadium.

Shorecrest advances to the semifinals and plays Mercer Island at 2 p.m. Friday at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

Shorecrest had contributions from numerous players, including two goals from sophomore forward Glenn Paden. Paden scored before halftime, and once again on a 15-yard shot from team captain Nick Terrel’s throw-in.

Terrel assisted on Shorecrest’s first goal of the game, throwing in another precise pass to freshman midfielder Ian Adams who knocked it home for a 1-0 lead.

Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year Michael Harris connected on a header from Jonathan Cho’s corner kick for a 3-0 lead. Eli Blauser drilled a 50-foot deep shot for the Scots to put the game out of reach at 5-0.

Pasco 3, Kamiak 2: At Pasco, the state’s top-ranked team scored in the first two minutes for a 1-0 lead, but Kamiak (12-9 overall) answered in the fifth minute with a goal from Tyler Hawkinson on Andreas Schilbach’s assist. Pasco held on after Kamiak’s Brian Bae scored in the 72nd minute to knock Kamiak out of 4A state competition.

Archbishop Murphy 2, Steilacoom 1: Eric Smith scored his second goal of the game with 12.8 seconds remaining to send Archbishop Murphy (16-5) to a 2A semifinal match at 6 p.m. Friday versus Squalicum. The Wildcats reached the final four for the first time since 2005-06. Steilacoom got on the board first with a score from Casey Woodruff in the 15th minute for a 1-0 lead, but Smith answered with a goal in the 30th minute on a feed from Sean Ryan. Near the end of regulation, Archbishop Murphy’s Jamie Steinman controlled the ball on the wing and passed it to Smith, who scored from 25 yards out. Doug Ehlebracht was in goal for Archbishop Murphy.
