Coach musings

A disclaimer:
I still have not gathered any concrete information regarding the search for Everett’s next coach. I know it won’t be Dean Clark (hired by Prince George) or Curtis Hunt (rehired by Regina). Otherwise, it could be anyone, and if Everett general manager Doug Soetaert is good to his word it will be at least another month before the team makes any kind of announcement.
However, Soetaert has left clues about the direction he’s thinking. He said his search wouldn’t begin in earnest until June, when all the leagues are finished. That means he’ll at least be considering coaches who spent this past season in the professional ranks. He also said he thinks compete level needs to be emphasized more, so it’s likely the new hire will be something of a taskmaster.
For a more thorough look at the situation, check out tomorrow morning’s paper, when my full story is scheduled to run.
