LAKEWOOD — Woodinville defeated Marysville-Pilchuck 2-0 Saturday, finishing the Tomahawks season with a 18-2-1 mark and a fourth-place finish in the 4A state boys soccer tournament at Harry Lang Stadium.

M-P collected its first-ever state trophy in boys soccer.

“I’m am really proud of our team and we need to sit back and enjoy the fact that we did as well as we did,” M-P coach Geoff Kittle said. “Looking back that is a pretty huge accomplishment. We can walk through the school and see that trophy sitting there.”

But Kittle said the Tommies had a difficult time bouncing back from Friday’s semifinal loss.

“Today’s game was a little difficult for our guys to get up for. It really seemed like the whole tournament we have been struggling to finish,” Kittle said. “I think after we played such a hard game the last game the guys just felt heartbroken and like they didn’t have much luck.”
