Video: Glacier Peak football team’s kettle-bell relay

Coaches are sly. They dream up ways for athletes to get in great shape by making workouts seem fun.

For example, watch this video clip (see below) I recorded Wednesday morning in Snohomish. It happened during the Glacier Peak High School football team’s voluntary workout.

In this drill, players split into two groups and competed in a relay. Each team member pushed a one-man sled about 20 yards, then picked up two 45-pound kettle bells and ran with them for about 30 yards, looping around a hurdle and back to the sled. They finished by backpedaling and pulling the sled back to where they began.
