Boeing 777 and chase planes draw attention

I’ve been fielding inquiries all day about a Boeing wide body jet that took off from Paine Field this morning accompanied by two chase planes.

First of all, it was NOT the 787’s maiden flight. I know we’re all anxious for the Dreamliner’s first flight, but I’m confident we’ll have more advanced warning than this.

The aircraft that many of you spotted this morning was a 777. A Boeing spokesman confirmed over e-mail that the 777 was on its way to fly over the Boeing Classic golf tournament.

The two other planes trailing it were there for photography purposes, not because of troubles with the 777.

The low-flying 777 and chase planes apparently “freaked out” some East side residents who liver near the golf tournament, according to this King 5 story.
