EVERETT — An Everett woman has been charged with child abuse after her 10-year-old son reported that she burned his hand with a heated, metal spoon.
A person at the boy’s school noticed the burn on the back of his hand in May. The boy told school officials his mother heated up a spoon on the family’s stove and hit his hand with it, according to court papers.
The boy suffered a second-degree burn.
He told investigators he’d been pestering his mom about buying him something. When they returned home from the store, she told him to touch a burner. He refused and she placed a metal spoon on the heating element and hit the back of his hand with the hot metal, according to the charging documents.
The woman told police she’d accidentally burned her son with a hot spoon but she hadn’t meant to burn him, court papers said.
