Boeing’s jet tally: adds 11, loses 20; trails Airbus

The Boeing Co.’s net order tally dropped by 9 this week as the jet maker logged in 20 cancellations and only 11 new orders.
Boeing updates its orders and deliveries Web page weekly.
The company has a net total of 70 orders through Oct. 6, which reflects 181 gross orders and 111 order cancellations.
This last week, Boeing recorded an order(s) for 11 737s from an unidentified customer. However, the company also received cancellation requests for 10 737s and 10 787s. In late September, TUI Travel had said it planned to cancel 10 of its 787s on order.
Boeing’s rival Airbus also recently updated its order tally through the end of September. The European company has won 123 net orders through Sept. 30. Airbus hasn’t been hit as hard as Boeing by jet cancellations, according to its Web site. The company has 149 gross orders and 26 order cancellations this year.
