GRANITE FALLS — A memorial service has been set for Monday to remember Shaylynn Wietersen, a 16-year-old Granite Falls High School student who died from injuries suffered in a car accident Tuesday morning.

The service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at Granite Falls High School, 1401 100th St NE.

Shaylynn, a sophomore, was riding in a Jeep Cherokee on her way to school when the vehicle collided with a Toyota 4Runner on a stretch of Burn Road northwest of Granite Falls.

The Toyota was attempting to pass the Jeep on the two-lane road.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the accident. Investigators are trying to determine whether speed and improper passing contributed to the accident.

Flowers, gifts or donations can be sent to The Father’s House Foursquare Church at 402 S. Granite Ave., 98252.
