Everett card room tries to keep license

EVERETT — An Everett card room earlier this week continued its fight to regain its gambling license after it was yanked for failing to pay more than $500,000 in taxes to the city.
Lawyers for The Casino Club on Wednesday filed a petition for a judge to review the decision by the state Gambling Commission to revoke its license. The commission pulled the club’s license in November after the city complained that the card room hadn’t been paying city gambling taxes, according to court records.
The card room is on Everett Mall Way.
Attorneys for the business have argued that the commission’s review of its appeal was defective.
The ruling could mean 120 employees are out of work, Tacoma attorney John Sterbick wrote in court papers. The club is asking a Thurston County Superior Court judge to stay the revocation.
