Everett: Audubon meeting on Salish Sea

A meeting of the Pilchuck Audubon Society next month will feature the presentation “The Salish Sea: A Tour of the Place and its Health.”

Chrys Bertolotto from Washington Shore Stewards and Beach Watchers is scheduled to give the presentation at the Everett Firefighters Hall, 2411 Hewitt Ave., from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 12.

The Salish Sea is the regional name for the Georgia Strait, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound and everything else in between. An update on Port Susan’s “important bird area” project also is scheduled.

Everett: Meetings on housing block grant

The city of Everett’s Citizens Advisory Committee for Housing and Community Development plans a series of meetings to gather recommendations on how to spend federal and state housing grants at 4 p.m. beginning this Wednesday and continuing every Wednesday in February.

The committee plans to meet in the hearing room, eighth floor of the Wall Street Building, 2930 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

Lake Stevens: New sidewalk construction

Work began last week to build a sidewalk on the east side of 123rd Street NE near North Lake Middle School.

The $129,523 project includes a curb, gutter and widened shoulder along with the sidewalk on 123rd between 22nd Street NE and 26th Street NE.

The work is expected to be finished by the end of the month, depending on weather.

Monroe: State Fair seeks board members

The Evergreen State Fair is seeking candidates for four vacancies on its Snohomish County Fair Advisory Board.

The 11-person board meets the second Tuesday of each month. It was created to advise and help staff with the production of the 12-day fair, Snohomish County’s largest annual event.

Sultan: Fundraiser for scholarships

The Sultan Friends of the Library will have a book and bake sale to help fund college scholarships.

Bargain books, treats and bookbags marking the library’s 100th anniversary will be on sale from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Sultan Community Center, 319 Main St.

Visitors also can donate old books or media such as movies and music that are in good condition.
