Arlington: Relay for Life group gears up
The Arlington Relay for Life steering committee plans to meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. The meeting is followed by a team rally at the same location, at 7 p.m.

Monroe: Meeting set for Vaux’s swifts kiosk
A committee will meet Wednesday night to discuss building a kiosk at Frank Wagner Elementary School to teach children about the Vaux’s swifts birds that migrate through the area every year.
The discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Goddard room of Valley General Hospital, 14701 179th Ave. SE. Anyone interested may attend.
The Pilchuck Audubon Society received money for the kiosk last year in the form of a $15,000 TogetherGreen grant from Toyota Motor Co. and the National Audubon Society.
Over a six- to eight-week period each spring and fall, between 130,000 and 210,000 Vaux’s swifts stop in Monroe during their migration.

Local Boy Scouts note group’s 100th year
Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will mark the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America with a flag-raising ceremony. W. Main Street will be closed between S. Sams Street and S. Blakeley Street from 8:45 to 9:25 a.m. Saturday for the ceremony.
As many as 100 Scouts from Monroe and neighboring cities will attend the event. Afterward, the group plans to go into the community to perform service work.
The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated on Feb. 8, 1910, and now counts 2.8 million young people as members.

Everett: Goodwill outlet opens Saturday
A grand opening for Goodwill’s outlet store in Everett is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The first 250 shoppers will receive a free gift. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.
The new store is at 2208 W. Casino Road. Clothing, shoes, housewares, toys, books and furniture are sold at discount.
This is Goodwill’s second outlet store in the Puget Sound region. The other outlet store is in downtown Seattle.
Marysville: Mayor’s address on Web site
Mayor Dennis Kendall’s 2010 State of the City address is available on the city’s Web site.
The mayor delivered his annual address Friday at a meeting of the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce at the Tulalip Casino.
In his address, Kendall covered such topics as the recession, the recent large annexation to the city, transportation, parks and public safety.

Whidbey Island: Tea Party group to meet
The Whidbey Island Tea Party group plans to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Honeymoon Lake Clubhouse, 4343 Honeymoon Bay Road, Greenbank.
