Lake Stevens: Comment on late start
The Lake Stevens School District has started an online survey to gather parent and public opinion about delaying the start of school on Wednesdays.
School districts across the state provide training, planning and collaboration time using different methods, such as delayed starts, early releases and training days that are nonschool days for students.
Last year, Lake Stevens approved a one-hour delayed start on most Wednesdays during the school year.

Lynnwood: Free HIV tests available tonight
The Snohomish Health District will provide free HIV tests to American Indians who are 14 years and older and are at risk for HIV infection.
The tests will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Snohomish Health District South County office, 6101 200th St. SW, Suite 100, Lynnwood.

Mill Creek: Have coffee with principal
An informal coffee hour with high school principal Terry Cheshire is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday for parents and guardians of Henry M. Jackson High School students.
The meeting will be in the school’s library, 1508 136th St. SE.
Monroe: Tip a cop for Special Olympics
As part of an annual fundraiser, Monroe police officers will wait tables at the Sailfish Bar &Grill, 104 N. Lewis Street.
The event takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, with proceeds benefitting Special Olympics Washington.

Snohomish: New officers take over
Historic Downtown Snohomish elected new leaders March 11 to guide the downtown business-owners organization.
Kimberly McIlrath, owner of Faded Elegance, will serve as the new president, and Deverie Wood, owner of Light in Glass Publishing, will return as vice president.
Past president Andy Papadatos, owner of the Snohomish Bakery, will move into the treasurer’s seat, and Lisa Steffan, owner of Central Banc Mortgage, will serve as secretary.
