20 of the world’s ugliest animals

What with all those sites like Cute Overload and I Can Has Cheezburger and The Itty Bitty Kitty Commmittee, there’s an excess of cute out there these days. There’s even a picture of smiling turtle (albeit a foul-smelling one) in the most recent issue of National Geographic Magazine.

Perhaps fed up with all the cooing, the New York Daily News has compiled a slideshow of the world’s ugliest animals. Among other creatures you’d probably rather avoid, the slideshow includes a creature called a hag fish, which the caption says “can produce 20 liters of slime in a matter of minutes.”

Nothing cute about that.
