PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL/GOLF ROUNDUP: Edmonds-Woodway baseball team staves off elimination

SNOHOMISH — Even an episode of “Survivor” couldn’t cast something like what the Edmonds-Woodway baseball team faces.

E-W was on the brink of heading into the abyss of missing the postseason with a loss, but with a 7-6 Wesco South win over Glacier Peak Thursday, the Warriors remained in contention for the postseason.

They’ll need to sweep Shorewood today and Monday in their final regular-season series just to reach a play-in game to the 4A District 1 tournament.

E-W put together two big middle innings. Ryan Budnick provided most of E-W’s firepower, batting 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI. Teammate Austin Jones was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Andy Willcock came in relief, clinging to a one-run lead, and shut down the Glacier Peak offense in the final two innings to earn the save.
