Seahawks claim former Central QB off waivers

The Seahawks claimed former Central Washington University quarterback Mike Reilly off of waivers from St. Louis Tuesday.

Reilly, who started his college career at Washington State, put up record breaking numbers at Central, but went undrafted in 2009. He first signed with Pittsburgh, and spent time on the practice squads of the Steelers and Green Bay Packers before joining the Rams.

Current Seahawks general manager John Schneider came to Seattle from Green Bay, so he has some familiarity with Reilly.

Reilly, who was co-runner-up for the Harlon Hill Trophy given to the nation’s top Division II player, will likely compete with Mike Teel for the No. 3 quarterback spot behind Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst. Teel, a seventh-round pick in 2009, was the Seahawks’ third quarterback last season.

The Seahawks also signed three players who attended last weekend’s minicamp as tryout players: cornerback Marcus Udell, and receivers Chris Duvalt and Victor James. Udell started his college career at Alabama and attended two junior colleges before ending his career at Middle Tennessee State. Duvalt played at Illinois, finishing second on his team with 23 catches and 361 yards as a senior. James started eight games for New Mexico State last season, catching 35 passes for 398 yards. He was also voted the team’s outstanding special teams player.
