50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Airman First Class Robert O. Ashworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ashworth of Everett, was named airman of the quarter for the 2039th AACS Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane.

Completion of an addition to his restaurant at 10th and Broadway in Everett was announced by Bill Pardee. The improvement facilitated the handling of banquets, club meetings and similar events that called for catering.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

After 13 years of preparation, Everett’s new Kasch Park was opening today at 8811 Airport Road. The 60-acre park was named after the late Bill Kasch, who coached youth athletic teams in the city for a quarter-century. The park was on land donated by the federal government in 1972 when it closed a Bomarc missile program there.

The Lake Stevens boys team placed first in the Wesco AA track meet. The Vikings quartet of Brian Estes, Sean Jameson, Bud Marshall and Mark Koski established a new meet record by running the 1,600 relay in 3:26.41. Their coach was Greg Erickson.
