Arlington: School band to wash cars
Arlington High School band members have scheduled the music program’s 15th annual Car Wash-a-Thon for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in front of the school gym, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd. Car washes are offered free, but people are encouraged to make a donation. Students have been collecting donation pledges for the total number of cars they can wash that day.
Funds raised go to the purchase of new band instruments and for travel expenses.
Granite Falls: Bike Safety Rodeo
The Granite Falls Fire District 17 and the Granite Falls Police Department are hosting a Bike Safety Rodeo on Saturday at Mountain Way Elementary School. The rodeo is for children and their parents who want to learn how to be safe while riding their bikes. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 702 N. Granite Ave.
Participants can meet firefighters and police officers, take part in a bike safety course and helmet fitting and have the chance to win prizes.

Marysville: Council interviews Monday
The City Council will interview 13 people who applied for an open council seat on Monday at City Hall.
Interviews are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at 1049 State Ave. in Marysville. The seat was vacated by councilman Jon Nehring who stepped down from his council position after he was appointed mayor on June 28. He’s serving the remaining portion of the mayoral term of Dennis Kendall. The city received 14 applications for the position on Sept. 8. Candidate Tom King decided to withdraw his application.
Vendors sought for craft show
The Ken Baxter Community Center is accepting applications for the first Autumn Craft Show. The bazaar is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the community center, 514 Delta Ave. The cost for a table is $50. Applications must be received before Oct. 1. Applicants will be required to e-mail photos of their crafts or bring samples to the community center.

Stanwood: Council membership changes
Former planning commissioner Roger Haskin has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by former councilman Conrad Ryer, who resigned because of job obligations. Haskin was sworn into office Sept. 9. If Haskin wants to continue in the position, he will have to run for election in 2011. Six people applied to fill Ryer’s vacated seat on the council.The Stanwood City Council meeting set for Thursday has been cancelled.
A city budget workshop is set for Oct. 7. The next regular council meeting on the calendar is scheduled for Oct. 14.
