Everett: Fire board appoints new member
Richard Schrock has been appointed to the Snohomish County Fire District 1 Board of Commissioners.
The board selected Schrock last week from among four applicants to fill a vacancy created with the September resignation of long-time commissioner Brian McMahan, who moved out of the district.
Schrock has served four years in the 1980s as director of the state Department of Commerce and Economic Development and is a member of the Lake Stickney Conservancy.
The five-member Fire District board is responsible for defining the district’s long-term vision and for adopting policies to be implemented by administrative staff.
Commissioners are elected to six-year terms by voters in the fire district. Schrock will serve until the fall of 2011, when he will have to run for office if he wants to retain the seat.
