SULTAN — The city has a new councilwoman.
The Sultan City Council has appointed Marianne Naslund for the vacant council position.
The council voted unanimously in favor of her appointment at its last meeting. She was the only applicant.
The position was left vacant by Ron Wiediger, who resigned Oct. 14 for health reasons.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 16. Her term expires next November. She can run for election after that.
Naslund is not new to working for the city. She was an administrative assistant from 1995 to 1999, city administrator Deborah Knight said.
