EVERETT — Wesco 3A champion Everett put up impressive offensive numbers in its final regular season game, posting a 20-4 victory over Oak Harbor Wednesday evening at Lincoln Field.

Everett had eight-runn outburts in the first and third innings, a four-run fourth inning and 15 hits as a team.

CJ Shaver, Everett’s sophomore outfielder, led the Seagulls, finishing the game 4-for-4 with three home runs and eight RBI.

“This is definitely her best game of the year,” said Everett coach Kyle Peacocke. “She has been hitting very well the second half of the season.”

Shaver doubled her year’s home run total with the three-home run performance. Her three home runs and eight RBI are both single-game school records, according to Peacocke.

Shaver’s first home run, a three-run shot, came in the first inning. She hit a solo home run to lead off the third inning and hit a three-run homer later in the same inning. In the fourth inning, Shaver hit a bases-loaded single that scored two runs.

Abby Facey had the win on the mound for Everett with five strikeouts in three innings. She gave up just one unearned run, which came in the first inning when Oak Harbor’s lead-off batter Shawna Steele made it on base on an error and was eventually driven home by Bailey Martinez’s two-out, RBI double. Martinez finished the game 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI.

Lauren Kesterson was 3-for-3 for Everett with two stolen bases. Breana Flores, who was playing in her first varsity game for the Seagulls, hit a double.

Looking forward to the postseason, Peacocke said he is looking forward to his team continuing its recent, solid play. “The team’s been playing very well, and we’ve been hitting the ball very well for the last two weeks. We’re playing well at the right time.”
