50 years ago (1961)

George Kocman, past president of Snohomish County Boys Club, was named first vice president of the Northwest Area Council of Boys Clubs of America. Moe Michelson succeeded Kocman was Boys Club president.

Work on Eastcrest Hills Community Club on 86th Street was under way, with concrete for the basement being poured. The club members, who comprised residents of the Eastmont, Rivercrest and Eastview Hills suburban developments south of Everett, had their sights set on completion within a year. The club was headed by Erling Hesla, president.

25 years ago (1986)

Everett Community College music instructor Dick Copeland was taking part in a six-week tour of Europe this summer visiting Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He would take part in a recording session with the Prague Radio City Jazz Band.

Steve Howe, a administrator with the Lynnwood office of the Social Security Administration, was the new president-elect of the Western Washington University Alumni Association board of directors, while Mark Wolken, economic development coordinator for the city of Everett, was elected to the association’s executive board.
