Lynnwood’s star girls basketball player Mokun Fajemisin tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee and will miss the 2011-12 season, according to Lynnwood girls basketball head coach Everett Edwards.

“Her high school career in terms of athletics is over,” Edwards said on Wednesday. “It was going to be a big year for her. She’s disappointed.”

Fajemisin, who averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals per game for the Royals this past winter to earn a place on The Herald’s 4A/3A All-Area First Team, tore the ACL last month playing for her AAU team, Tree of Hope.

“She was going in and attacking the basket and there was a little contact,” Edwards said of the play she was injured on.

As for the Royals, Edwards said they have to look forward.

“Injuries are part of the game,” Edwards said. “We’ll have to make adjustments.”
