Events

Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School is hosting an information session on the airframe and powerplant mechanics program at 2:30 p.m., Oct. 13, at 9711 32nd Place W., Building C-80 at Paine Field in Everett. EvCC’s program is an eight-quarter, 2,040-hour program. Students will learn about 45 subjects and get hands-on experience with a variety of aircraft and helicopters. The chief pilot of Boeing’s fourth test 787 will speak at a public event Oct. 12 in Mukilteo. Capt. Heather Ross will discuss “Women in Aviation” at the Future of Flight Aviation Center at 8415 Paine Field Blvd. Ross’s speech begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public. The Port of Everett commission will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the port’s Blue Heron Conference Room on the second floor of 1205 Craftsman Way in Everett. The commission is scheduled to make a decision on new political boundaries following the 2010 Census, and it will hear reports on liability insurance, the marina and dredging projects.

Boeing will post its third quarter financial results Oct. 26. The company is expected to discuss the profitability of its 787 jet program, following recent delivery of the first 787 to Japan’s All Nippon Airways. Achievements

Everett-based Fluke Corp. recently received recognition for three products. Test and Measurement World ranked Fluke’s 190 Series II Four-channel Scopemeter, its iFlex clamp meter flexible probes and its 1551A Ex “Stik” thermometer to its list of the top 50 hottest products of 2011. The list was published in the magazine’s August issue. Fluke’s 810 Vibration Tester and its TiS Thermal Imager also were named as most valuable products of 2011 in the Consulting-Specifying Engineer Product of the Year Awards. Fluke produces portable electronic test and measurement devices.

Good deeds

The Massage Clinic is holding a fundraiser to benefit Wreaths Across America, which honors veterans by laying wreaths at Arlington Cemetery and at locations throughout the United States. The group also organizes veterans’ tributes. The Massage Clinic, located at 4322 Rucker in Everett, will donate 10 percent of all sales through Nov. 24 to the organization. Fred Meyer recently presented Camp Fire USA Snohomish County with a check for $20,074 in support of program services for 8,000 children in the county. The check represents the change collected at Fred Meyer checkout counters at Snohomish County stores during April and May.
